WALGA provides invaluable advice and assistance on government policies and legislation affecting various facets of community development within Western Australia. As advocates for better outcomes, we aim to empower Local Governments to navigate complex issues and enact positive change within their communities.

Enhancing community wellbeing and inclusive communities is achieved through Local Government functions such as:

• Aboriginal engagement, access and inclusion and multiculturism
• Children and youth programs
• Community safety including Public Health Plans
• Public libraries
• Sports, recreation and culture facilities

How WALGA supports better outcomes for WA Local Governments

Through partnerships with Federal and State Governments, Peak Bodies and the Not for Profit sectors, WALGA uses its influence and expertise to support Local Government deliver better outcomes for their communities. 

WALGA’s community policy priorities reflect the critical issues impacted the Western Australia Local Government sector to enable us to maximise outcomes and facilitate solutions. In addition to our evolving and time critical priorities, the team also provide support and advice on the board range of social and community policies Local Governments manage.
