At WALGA, we believe that a commitment to Reconciliation provides an opportunity to generate a greater understanding and mutual respect across cultures. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are unique and important to Australia’s national identity.
WALGA’s commitment to Reconciliation connects us to our values, particularly those of Respect and Collaboration. We support the efforts of WA Local Governments to foster respectful partnerships and strengthen relationships with local Aboriginal communities. WALGA’s Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) journey continues as we collaborate and consult with our Local Government Aboriginal representatives to finalise our next RAP.
We aim to have our new RAP endorsed by Reconciliation Australia in 2024.
