Careers at Council will be hosting their inaugural Job Summit on Wednesday, 1 May under the banner ‘Attracting talent to Local Government: Insights and case studies on building careers in local communities.’
With long-term challenges in attracting and retaining staff in local government, the Careers at Council Jobs Summit is an opportunity to learn more about recent changes in the employment market and share successful council practice that contribute to building a skilled and sustainable workforce.
This summit will feature specialists in labour market analysis and employment marketing, along with council case studies that explore ways to better engage with our future workforce, including the education sector and untapped talent pools.
Hosted in Sydney, attendees will hear from leading demographer Simon Kuestenmacher regarding an update on the job market in Australia.
Simon will provide insights into current and emerging trends for the Local Government sector and highlight opportunities and pain points that hiring managers should consider when planning for recruitment.
The summit will also discuss models of flexibility that work for employees and employers, the impact of job redesign, and effective succession planning. It will also look to the future and the impact of AI on job roles and service delivery.
