Local Government Legislative Reform
The State Government is undertaking a consultation period ending on Friday,
25 February
2022 for a significant number of Local Government Act legislative
reform proposals.
WALGA’s timeline to develop a Local Government sector submission on the Local Government Legislative Reform Program is as follows:
- Tuesday,
23 November –
WALGA InfoPage was distributed to the Local Government sector requesting feedback on proposals. This paper includes advice on the sector's current position that are covered in the reform proposals, together with recommendations on new positions required on matters not previously canvassed.
- Friday,
28 January 2022 – Local Governments requested to provide feedback to WALGA
- February 2020 – Zone meetings to consider a draft sector submission
- Wednesday,
23 February 2022 – Special meeting of WALGA State Council via video conference to endorse a sector submission
- Friday,
25 February 2020 – WALGA to present a submission to the State Government, which Local Governments are also encouraged to do.
