The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety will shortly seek the following information from Local Governments:

The total number of private swimming pools in your district that are subject to Part 8 Division 2 of the Building Regulations 2012 (the Regulations) as at 30 June 2024.
Of those private swimming pools:

The number that had their safety barriers inspected* in the period 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024 inclusive; and
-
The number overdue (i.e. safety barriers that were last inspected* prior to 1 July 2020).
This information will need to be provided by Thursday, 1 August 2024.
Should all relevant pools within your district not have been inspected within the mandatory four-year period, you are encouraged to provide a short explanation as to why this may have occurred.
Please note that the Building Amendment Regulations 2023 were published on 20 December 2023 and as of 21 June 2024 the provision of this data is mandatory.
No information needs to be sent at this stage.
A letter formally requesting this information will be sent closer to the deadline.
