National Climate Resilience and Adaptation Strategy |
|
WALGA has put together a submission in response to the Commonwealth’s public consultation on updates to the National Climate Resilience and Adaptation Strategy. |
|
The submission was based on WALGA’s existing Climate Change Policy Statement and other sector-endorsed submissions.
WALGA will continue to advocate for stronger leadership, adequate resourcing and funding and a shift away from the emergency response currently taken in climate adaptation planning on behalf it the sector.
The submission can be read here. |

Changes to WA Emergency Warnings |
|
Emergency WA now features new bushfire warning colours as the first step in WA's implementation of the Australian Warning System (AWS). |
|
Western Australia is joining with other states and territories to deliver nationally consistent emergency information through the implementation of the AWS. The implementation of AWS was a recommendation from the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements, and aims to provide simpler, clearer warnings to all Australians.
The implementation of AWS will see a consistent warning framework applied across bushfires, storms, floods, cyclones and extreme heat events.
Over time, there will be more changes to emergency information as DFES continues to achieve national consistency across a range of hazards.
A fact sheet and video are available to assist Local Governments in sharing the information about AWS with the community. |
