State & Federal Updates

National Climate Resilience and Adaptation Strategy Consultation Open
Consultation on the Commonwealth NCRAS is open with a very limited window for feedback. WALGA will be putting together a submission aligned with WALGA's Climate Change Policy Statement. Local Governments can also provide feedback directly via the Commonwealth's survey here by Monday 6 September.

Albany Investment to Advance New Wave of Rewnewable Technology 
The first commercial Ocean Wave Energy Market Demonstration Site in the southern hemisphere is a step closer with the State Government contributing $1.55 million towards the collaborative project.

WA Accelerates Towards Longest EV Fast Charging Network
Western Australia will soon be home to the longest electric highway in Australia with the Government announcing 45 locations that will make up the EV fast charging network.

Waterwise Greening Opportunities on offer for Local Government
The State Government is encouraging Local Governments and residents to take advantage of Water Corporation's Waterwise Greening Scheme to help create cooler, greener suburbs.

$2 Million Boost to Kickstart Hydrogen Gas Blending
The McGowan Government is pushing ahead on its target to blend renewable hydrogen in the natural gas network with a $2 million grant for a major capital works project

$15.1 Million to Strengthen WA's Biosecurity Capabilities
The funding will be provided to DPIRD over four years to enhance early warning and detection systems, boost biosecurity emergency preparedness, and build response capacity and capability.

The Department of Communities is currently seeking applications for the Community Gardens Grants for 2021/2022.

Solid Futures Aboriginal Traineeship Program
Applications for interested agencies and trainees for 2022 open on 30 August and close on 1 October 2021.
